Who is NeVar and NeVara?

Nevar© and his mate NeVara© are a not so common raven pair. Together, they have become the mascots and narrators for this website.

Ravens were chosen for their intelligence, sociability and adaptability. They have been companions to humankind for all of recorded history and are a rich part of our folklore. To some ravens are evil. To others they are revered as noble spirits. And so ravens were chosen to tell the story of Mount Tom and why the ridge that makes up the spine of Holyoke should be preserved largely as undeveloped open space.

 Trail Repair

Trail maintenance is a constant need.  The east side of Lower Bray Loop is one of the many examples.  If you can spare a few hours, send a comment under the Recent Posts Page to NaVar.

Citizens Advocacy Meeting

Mt Tom Citizens Advocacy Committee ( MTCAC) meets  the 4th Wednesday of the month, except August and December, 3 PM at the Mt. Tom State Reservation management office.  The office is reached from the Rte. 5 entrance on Reservation Road.  The MTCAC shares with reservation management perspectives on issues of concern, event planning, trail maintenance.  Meetings are open to the public and you are urged to attend and share your thoughts.

 Points of Interest Map Update

The Points of Interest map on this site that focuses on the Mt. Tom area is being updated.  Two other maps of the range, Rte. 141 to Rte. 202, Rte. 202 to the West Springfield line will be added.   Your assistance with gathering relevant facts, images, video/audio, will help make these maps more useful and interesting to hikers.  Send a comment under the Recent Posts Page to NeVar.  Your feedback will be much appreciated.
