Points of Interest Map

Mt. Tom’s nearly six miles of ridge-line, from its peak with a 360 degree view of the Pioneer Valley and a surrounding tree canopy leading to meadows, wetlands, and a diverse population of plants and animals, is ideally suited for student and professional studies, as well as passive recreation. This end of the ridge is also home to Mt. Tom State Reservation and its 22 miles of hiking trails, picnic areas. Two golf courses complement, as does the 3 1/2 mile service road around Whiting Reservoir. For passive recreation connected to four other surrounding cities, Mt. Tom and its nearly 13-plus miles of ridge-line, from the Connecticut River in Holyoke and Easthampton, MA, to Bear Hole in West Springfield, is a jewel to be preserved largely as undeveloped open space. Families of the future will thank us.

Illustrated by a friend of the Mt. Tom Range. Map is not to scale. Update of this illustration will include the lower Easthampton portion of Mt. Tom. Future maps will cover the following: Route 141 to Route 202, and R202 to Bare Hole. Photos and text to help build these two new maps would be much appreciated.
